ACTIVITY & PROGRAMMES UNDERTAKEN DURING PAST FINANCIAL YEAR [2018-2019]
A few specific activities and programs have been organized by the organization in its operational districts during past financial year. The detail description of activities is furnished below…
MEASLES RUBELLA CAMPAIGN:
The Organization got involvement in Mobilizing the parents, School teachers, community leaders, Religious leaders to vaccinate their children from the age of 9 months to 15 years for Measles & Rubella vaccines so that universal coverage can take place in Bihar. B.V.H.A. & AIH ware given responsibilities to mobilize 100 low vaccinated blocks in Bihar. VSKS became its partner for Mobilizing the Community, Parents, Teachers, AWWs, Religious & Panchayat leaders of the block of Mahnar in the district of Vaishali. The organizations staff were to motivate all the schools (government and privet) orient the teachers so that they convince the parents of the school children to encourage to vaccinate so that elimination of Measles & Rubella was introduced in Bihar to cover nearly 4 crores children from 9 months to 15 years. Due to mass scale motivation meetings, training of school teachers & monitoring of the vaccination sites of Mahnar there was remarkable enhancement in vaccination in M.R. Campaign in Mahnar. The organization govt. official reorganization for this effort. Around 75% children of Mahnar of that age group were vaccinated due to the involvement of CSO for Awareness Building in the Block. This programme was a UNICEF supported project.
SCMPGIRHA:
The organization was the partner of Health Watch Forum (HWF) Bihar through BVHA Patna for building Awareness & consciousness among the Marginalized communities about Maternal Health Rights & Entitlement through evidence collection, survey & interviews of women who had a child birth within last six month at home, at government or privet facility or on road either by normal birth or assisted caesarean truth in total 09 villages of Desari & Bidupur blocks. The project was a part of multi state level (5 state) Network support fund from Amplify change through BVHA. It was an unique project where, the interviews of all women (who gave a child birth within 6 month) were done through an app based tool and also the surveys of facilities of HSC, PHC and VHNDs were carried through mobile app use. Thus the analysis of these tools were done automatically at the central level in Delhi. Thus the evidence collection was analyzed a shared at the community level were carried to improve the situation and services of the marginalized communities. It was found that the marginalized communities are not getting their due entitlements a proper treatment.
HAMARA SWASYTHA HAMARI AAWAJ CAMPAIGN:
The organization is a partner of C-3 in promoting Maternal Health Right through this Hamara Swasytha Hamari Aawaj whrer the organization carried surveys of women who delivered a child birth maternal health services & what they felt about the services. The NGO collected surveys of 1800 of such women of Bidupur, Hajipur, Desri, Raghopur, Sahdei Buzurg, Mahnar and Jandaha blocks of Vaishali district. The surveys was analysed at C-3.
KALAZAR ERADICATION PROGRAM:
Kala azar is a World Bank funded project and this is being implemented by the organization since 2011 onwards under the close consultation with BVHA, Patna. This particular project is designed and is being implemented where the people is affected due to sandy flies. Kumar Khand is one of such areas in Madhepura district which is vulnerable due to increasing cases of kalazar. The organization with the support of local health department detected 35 cases of kalazar, out to which 7 cases were reported positive. All positive patients were referred for further treatment with joint collaboration of Govt. Health department and Medicine Sans Frontiers [MSF], Hajipur.
Impact:
- Mass awareness among the people of operational areas.
- Detection of Kalazar cases and treatment for complete cure.
- Convergence of other department & line agencies for joint effort to minimize.
- Capacity building of key stakeholders.
SUPPORT –CARE & PROTECTION TO ALL NEEDY, DIPRESSED & ABUSED CHILDREN – A CHILD LINE PROGRAM:
VSKS with the support of Child line India Foundation is implementing a comprehensive campaign to provide all kinds of support and restoration of their vested rights in vaishali district, Bihar. In the last year itself, around 150 children were rescued either from un-lawful business, at risk environment, neglected or abused.
The effort is also made to institutional building and capacity building to various key stakeholders including personnel engaged with similar nature of program in Vaishali district. The young people were sensitized in different gram panchayats on issues related to children, irrespective of class, caste and language.The organization with the support of local government is making a series of effort to activities in the area of minimizing child labour, child marriage, abuse and atrocity against children in the project district.
The organization runs a childline sub centre working In 5 blocks of Vaishali district. The purpose of childline to risqué council, rehabilitate, provide emotional support to all children in distress who are either run-away, missing, elmed to leave home may be picked up and trafficked, attacked on molested & raped , beaten up or met accidents. The Childline is supported by national Childline under the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Govt. of India.
Thus, Emotional support the organization played and important role in Risqué operation with the collaboration of the local police & teams. It provide immediate shelter & then with collaboration of police sent them to the accredited shelter Home till their parents/ guardians do come and take their wards back home. The organization do FIR and follow-up such Police cases . Where children are trafficked, molested/raped and see that they get compensation under POSCO & S.C. & S.T. atrocity cases.

COMBAT TO DECLINE SEX RATIO IN BIHAR [BETI BACHAO BETI PADHAO PROGRAM]:
The organization organized a mass campaign to combat declining sex ratio with a slogan title” Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Program “in Vaisali with the support of organisation.. This was organized in the various locations with variety of people to make them aware and sensitize about illegal ultra sound cl Bihar. inics, gender violence, increasing cases of female feticide, and infanticide in various area in the state of Bihar.
A number of events have been organized with the support of active volunteers and community in Bidupur& other parts of Vaishali district, in which workshop with school & college children and media campaign were the most influencing activities carried out by the organization.

- Media advocacy for social awareness cum policy matter.
- Mobilization to youth for their equal participation in awareness creation & minimization of gender disparity.
YOUNG REPRODUCTIVE SEXUAL HEALTH PROGRAM:
Vaisali Samaj Kalyan Sansthan organized a workshop on above theme among young boys and girls in Bidupur block of Vaishali. The prime objective was to inculcate understanding about the subject, to minimize myths and misconception about various aspects of reproductive organs and their process.
The workshop helped us to disseminate sufficient amount of knowledge in terms of male & female organs, its function, right age of marriage, un-safe sex, HIV/AIDS etc. While talking to the participants various modes of IEC materials including DUMMY was applied to make them more interesting and understand.
Impact:
- Enhance knowledge about the subject.
- Decline misconception and shyness about the subject.
- Confidence building.
- Fear about killing disease HIV-AIDS if – unsafe sex is made by opposite partners.
- Self health consciousness.
AWARENESS CAMP ON HEALTH & HYGIENE PRACTICE:
A one day awareness camp was conducted by the team members of organization at all 4 PalnaGrih and 1 School under Bidupur block of Vaishali District. The main objective of this camp was to disseminate awareness about self health consciousness, promotion of personal hygiene, children’s health care.
The mothers of respective children of PalnaGrih and school children took active participation during this camp and learn from each other during sharing session. Use of flip chart and other IEC materials were applied to make this camp more receptive and useful.
ENVIRONEMT AWARENESS PROGRAM:
An advocacy workshop was organized on the occasion of Environment Day, 5th June’2018, by at Sahdei-Bujurg, Hajipur, with the mutual support of both Ngo representatives and community people, the parents, member PRI’s and SHG’s.
The prime objective of this workshop was to motivate and promote for tree plantation to participants. The concept behind this workshop was to promote family members to plant a tree – on the instance girl child birth. This exercise may support both, health environment and additional income to planters. Every participant took an oath to do tree plantation at their home place or on the open field.
WOMEN EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM:
One the occasion of “Women’s Day” the 8th of March’2018, a workshop was organized in Bidupur block with the support of local women, member SHG’s and youth. More than two hundred and above participants celebrated this event with sharing of various issues like – their legal rights, right to employment [MNREGA], right to food [PDS], various schemes and program run by government depart & finally women leadership in order to tackle various nature of atrocity & exploitation encountered by them.
Impact:
- Common decision to tackle all sorts of violence faced by them in their locality.
- Equal rights to their children [male & female.
- Support from women PRI’s member, SHG’s and local CSO’s.
- Joint effort to make PDS, MNREGA & other Scheme friendly.
HORTICULTURE-NURSERY DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITY:
Besides above, the organization is also putting efforts to safe earth by organizing various activities and programme in their respective areas of operation. Use of barren land by application of horticulture and nursery development is also one such activities undertaken by the organization for member SHG’s, with an aim to add additional income with limited resource. More than 25 SHG’s members have been demonstrated horticulture & nursery cultivation by mutual efforts of both member VSKS and Krishi Vigyan Kendra [KVS], Vaishali.
Impact:
- Capacity building among un-skilled women.
- Horticulture & nursery development by member SHG’s.
- Increase of income cum living standard.
OTHER ACTIVITIES & PROGRAM:
Alike previous year, this year also the organization observed the various event on the occasion’s of the following days in different pockets in their operational areas with mutual support of local youth, people and their stakeholders.
